Well then, the variety show is finally over but it was not just any ordinary but spectacular and amazing. So much shocking and rebellious presentations were presented over last night, February 22, 2008. It was really terrific and worth watching.
I just can’t help my self thinking about the presentations all the time and then suddenly, I just laugh about it even if I am alone and no one to share my thoughts with.
There’s no such thing as sadness and loneliness last night, what’s beyond the word happiness will thoroughly explain the event. The variety show was titled Trayntalentado, which I figured comes from the Visayan term of 30. It was so magnificent. I don’t care if I am exaggerating because that’s what I am feeling towards the shows and events.
The joy and laughter in Devcom I have experienced in Devcom are irreplaceable. I did not regreat and will never ever regret that I enrolled in devcom because DevCom rocks!

MDGs Symposium
Last January 21, 2008, a symposium was held at the Little Theatre of Xavier University as part of the annual celebration of the Devcom Days. The symposium tackles about the 8 Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations which included our country.
As communicators, the students were asked or forced rather, to attend the said symposium which was sponsored by the block B section of the sophomores. Or specifically, the block B section of the DC-5 class, which is Interpersonal Communication subject handled by the Department chair, Miss Shiella Balbutin.
During the said symposium, the speakers discussed about how we can lessen the problems of the country and how to help attain the MDGs before the due time that is on 2015. We are already half way through it but the progress is unreadily developing. As students, we were asked to help through our barangays. It may not be that helpful to think of but to me it is very much helpful.
Because LARGE impacts naturally started with LITTLE effects.

Irony of Pressures
Even though the DevCom days are still on going, it does not mean that we are now free as a bird to doing what we want without thinking about our studies. Well, as the celebration takes place, the assignments and projects’ deadlines are also fast approaching. Like the posters that were drawn as drafts, the final poster will be due on Wednesday, which is on February 27, 2008. And now, it’s already Saturday but there’s still nothing that comes in into my mind. As to what should be my layout or what should be the photo and the catchy phrase. It just really keeps my blood coming up and down from my brain faster. I try harder and harder every now and then to be creative but I’m not just that type of person. I can write better than think of designs that will suit much to my ideas.
But its fine, according to the upperclassmen of Devcom, it’s normal and the pressures that we are currently experiencing are incomparable as to what they have experienced before and as of now. I did not expect that Devcom is much harder that what I have thought.
Well, it might be very hard but it’s also a course full of fun and bond. No matter how hard the forces of pressures are, the students would still have the smiles on their faces.
Why?
Let’s just say, what makes the pleasure is the hardships.

Devcom at 30
At long last, the waiting is finally over. The Devcom Days has finally started. It may sound totally exaggerated but it’s not because it’s not just any ordinary celebration nor parties but the 30th Anniversary ever since the Development Communication course was offered at Xavier University. Full of pleasures, fun, happiness and even sorrows passed by for 30 years but still Devcom stood still beyond the misconceptions that the people said, have said and will be saying.
Through the years, Devcom is still as powerful as ever in fulfilling and achieving the goals being set for the students. Engraving student to become skillful not just in writing news or articles but also to other fields, may it be programming which is primarily offered for engineering and information management students, also train students to be creative in designing and making posters and streamers which is for the Arts students, and others which are so many to many mention but of course to train the student to be a person with conscience, commitment and competence during school days and after graduating.
For 2 years of staying in Devcom, I have found out what I really like, what really my passion is and where I really should belong. No matter what my parents say about this course, I am going to do what I want. Because I believe that in Devcom, my life is no doubt reachable.
